Lip balm

This is quite a hard balm, so it contains a relatively high amount of beeswax. The amount here is sufficient to fill 50 tubes.

Ingredients
  • 5 parts oil (olive oil, sweet almond oil, coconut oil, shea butter, etc.)
  • 3 parts beeswax
  • For example, to fill fifty 5g tubes, ca. 240g:
    • 200g oil (e.g. 100g coconut oil, 100g vegetable oil)
    • 120g beeswax
  • 2g scent oil/flavouring
  • 2g Vitamin E oil

Method
  • Place the beeswax in the bowl of the bain marie
  • Bring the water to a boil and reduce to a simmer
  • When the wax has melted add the oil(s), stirring occasionally with a metal spoon
  • Remove the bowl from the water to reduce the temperature
  • Add the Vitamin E
  • Using the thermometer, when the temperature has dropped to 45C but before it sets, add the essential oil
  • Pour into clean jars/tins before it sets
  • Once it has set, you can add the lids
  • Mark the containers with the contents and the date
