Wax food wraps

Wax food wraps are excellent reusable wrappings that can be used on sandwiches, etc. The following bakes around six 26cm x 26cm wraps. For best results, use cotton that adheres to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and wash to remove any remaining sizing solution. Use 40cm x 40cm  for bread. An ideal source of eco-cotton cloth is from Cotton Bee, cretonne (121gsm).

Ingredients
  • ​50g clean wax
  • 35g pine rosin – make sure it’s well-powdered
  • 5g jojoba oil
  • 5g coconut oil

Method
  • ​Weigh the ingredients
  • Melt the wax
  • Add the oils
  • Stir in the rosin until fully dissolved

Care
  • Don’t use with strong-smelling items like fish, raw meat, or onions.
  • Don’t use with hot food and don’t use in the microwave oven.
  • To clean:
    • Remove debris.
    • Soak in an empty sink with eco-friendly detergent.
    • Rinse under cold water and air dry.
