The Life and Times of Turlough Butler O'Bryen, father of Irish beekeeping"

By James Ryan, CFL
Picture
This lecture was in connection to the recent unveiling of the plaque in honour of Turlough Butler O'Bryen, and Jim's alk about O'Bryen and how he promoted a beekeeping revolution in Ireland was fascinating. Jim is so knowledgeable about the history of Irish beekeeping, he could reference obscure details about what was happening in the early 1900's, linking events in Ireland to those in the UK, and weaving the aftermath of the Famine into it all. This was definitely the best talk on beekeeping I've attended in a long time.
