Our beginner's course for 2021 will be online because of the COVID-19 pandemic.


An introductory lecture will be on 26th January, with the course itself starting on 2nd February and 7 subsequent Tuesdays. We will also hold a class on how to assemble frames. The course will be delivered by a team of experienced beekeepers.


The fee is €170 (or €175 online) which includes:


  • Classes and material for two people
  • A copy of the Haynes Bee Manual
  • One year's family membership of Louth Beekeepers' Association
  • Annual subscription to An Beachaire magazine delivered by mail
  • Access to back issues of An Beachaire as well as back issues of BBKA News online
  • Participation in the FIBKA insurance scheme
  • FIBKA fees for two for the exam leading to the Preliminary Certificate of Proficiency in Beekeeping 
  • Regular lectures from qualified beekeepers


The fee is waived for persons under 18 years old, but they must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
