Making Mead

This was probably the most entertaining lecture we've had in a long time. As well as being enormously informative, Simon Cronin's droll humour had the audience in laughter for a lot of the time. For those who missed it, if you ever get a chance to hear him speak, make a point of attending.
Simon explained the pitfalls and the techniques of making mead, interspersed with anecdotes of his own experiences, including his nightmare purchase of bottles in IKEA. Since his home is in the mini-gaeltacht in Meath, he had plenty of references as gaeilge, but he smoothly translated them to make sure nobody missed the point, including the proverb warning of the dangers of being too interested in mead:
