County Louth Beekeepers’ Association, in conjunction with Dundalk IT, is pleased to offer An Introductory Course to Microscopy, delivered by LBKA member and DKIT Head of Science Dr. Arjan van Rossum.
Held over four Wednesday evenings at DKIT, the course will provide beekeepers with useful theory and practical skills. Topics covered will include:
In order to ensure each participant receives sufficient hands-on instruction, this course is limited to 14 people.
The course will run from 7.00pm – 9:00pm each evening. The course fee is €30, payable on the first evening. To register contact the LBKA Secretary whose details are on our home page.

- April 11th: Introduction to microscopy - An overview of the dissecting microscope and the compound microscope.
- April 18th: Dissecting microscope – Bees up-close (incl. Acarine detection)
- April 25th: Compound microscope – Flower pollen and an overview of bee diseases (Nosema / EFB / AFB)
- May 2nd: Compound microscope – Measurements with compound microscope (for measuring sizes of pollen for example). Extracting pollen from honey for analysis.
