For swarms and bees in unwanted locations

For swarms. please email [email protected]. Include clear photographs/videos of the bees and their location so their height and the size of the colony can be seen. Also include your name and phone number and your Eircode. Many Louth beekeepers, as well as beekeepers across the country, are part of swarms.ie and they will respond quickly. This is definitely the fastest way to resolve any swarm problems.

If bees appear to be trying to get in somewhere, spray the area with WD40 (obviously not on the bees) and that will often cause them to look elsewhere. If they have very recently moved into a chimney, light a very, very smoky fire with damp grass, etc. This will often force them to leave. In reality, the faster you react, the easier it is to fix the problem.
