Colony Evaluation and Record Keeping for Bee Improvement
By Michael Maunsell, CFL
Michael gave a fascinating lecture: it actually lasted over two hours but it was so interesting that we didn't notice the time going by. He started by explaining why it was a good idea to keep records and then proceeded to explain what should be recorded. While ultimately the information can be used to identify which colonies to breed from, it's also required to identify those colonies that may have problems.
He then walked through the items to be recorded in detail, and finally explained how to identify the best and the worst colonies. It was a huge amount of information, clear and complete. If you missed it, you missed an excellent lecture!
